Easter Egg hunting time!

This is Jon. The girls took part in two different Easter Egg hunts over the weekend, one in K-Town and another in Yakima. Saturday morning started with the girls walking across the street to the old high school fields. Brittany and I estimate there was about 200 kids in attendance and easily another 200 adults. Kittitas has less than 1,000 residents (and probably 200 total kids in the K-12 district) so I don't know where any of these strangers came from, but hopefully they shopped here and increased our precious sales tax receipts.

Delaney was all business on Saturday. She planned on some stare downs, elbows and trash talking (not really, that was her mommy). As soon as the volunteers yelled "Go!" Delaney took off. Her strategy was to forget the easy prize and go for the promised land, the untouched middle area. As you can tell by the above photo, you can understand the intensity. It was great to watch.

Adelyn on the other hand was a bit more tentative. She took two steps and somewhat parked herself at the starting line. The only eggs she got were the two a volunteer threw down on the ground when she realized Addy was going to go oh-fer in the hunting department. Brittany and I were talking about how crazy Addy Bear is, jumping off beds, ledges and furniture, but isn't really into the competition thing, whereas Delaney, who is a bit shy, really seemed to enjoy the competition.

I'm told it took volunteers about an hour to set up the field for the egg hunt. No joke, the kids had that thing cleaned out in 10 seconds. It was amazing. Here are our proud egg hunters.

Afterward, Delaney decided to sit down with Michelle from our church and get a pretty pink rose painted on her cheek. Shortly after, she had a temper tantrum, but she had the prettiest cheek for about 10 minutes before wiping it all away. The good thing was the fact that the tantrum, complete with screaming, stomping and loud comments about mean parents and never being fed was heard by only half of the 400-plus people in attendance. Thanks, Delaney.

She took part in a potato sack race. You can barely see her in the pink coat the middle of the picture. I think her smile is so cute. She didn't do so well, so we did it again with my help below.

That's my girl!
