Easter afternoon with Uncle Terry...

Image
This is Jon. It's an annual tradition to head to Brittany's Uncle Terry's and Aunt Cheryl's house for Easter lunch and good times with Brittany's side of the family. They always put together a great spread and the girls spend the day playing with friends and cousins and collect a great haul in the Easter egg hunt. Another highlight for me is researching what latest home improvement project Terry did so I can get ideas and figure out how and what to do. Delaney's egg radar was on fire on Sunday. Blue grandpa showing Adelyn where an egg is hidden. Similar to Halloween trick-or-treating, Duane gets beyond excited for Easter egg hunts. Girls heading off to a far corner to search for hidden eggs. How cute is this? Taking stock of the candy haul. See blue grandpa right in the middle of the action. Uncle Terry is always great with the kids. Duane and Logan playing Rock Star/Guitar Hero. Nobody can clear out a room like Duane. Beautiful Auntie Brittany with Baby Ka...

Easter baskets Sunday morning!

Image
This is Jon. The girls opened their Easter baskets at home on Sunday morning and that began an entire day of wayyyyyy too much candy and craziness with friends and cousins in K-Town and Yakima. Forgive the blurry picture, as I was trying to keep up with Delaney's head spinning, but we got her swim goggles this year. Next week, both girls start swim lessons and Delaney needs goggles for all the times she's going to be underwater with her eyes open. She was extatic. You may be able to see it behind Adelyn, but she's been enamored with soccer, so we got her a soccer ball this Easter. In blue grandma's yearly tradition, the girls get gorgeous Easter dresses. What a smile, huh? We couldn't believe Adelyn let us put her hair in a pony tail for church. Usually it looks like she designed it with the help of a windstorm. Proud Daddy of adorable girls. Can't just have one picture of the girls... ...so I took plenty of 'em. This is my facebook profile picture right...

Easter Egg Colors!!!

Image
This is Jon. Like all good Americans, we dyed Easter Eggs on Saturday. The girls were very creative as well as efficient. Can't really say much here. This is my daughter without pants wearing a bikini top. She insisted. Seriously. Despite the fact the girls literally threw the eggs in the cups full of dye, only one egg came out with a small crack. Delaney actually looks like she's being careful in this pic. My patient girls waiting for their creations. I'm thrilled to show off my brown egg with the name "Old Wilson" etched on it. My trio...cuter than the Easter Bunny!

Easter Egg hunting time!

Image
This is Jon. The girls took part in two different Easter Egg hunts over the weekend, one in K-Town and another in Yakima. Saturday morning started with the girls walking across the street to the old high school fields. Brittany and I estimate there was about 200 kids in attendance and easily another 200 adults. Kittitas has less than 1,000 residents (and probably 200 total kids in the K-12 district) so I don't know where any of these strangers came from, but hopefully they shopped here and increased our precious sales tax receipts. Delaney was all business on Saturday. She planned on some stare downs, elbows and trash talking (not really, that was her mommy). As soon as the volunteers yelled "Go!" Delaney took off. Her strategy was to forget the easy prize and go for the promised land, the untouched middle area. As you can tell by the above photo, you can understand the intensity. It was great to watch. Adelyn on the other hand was a bit more tentative. She took two step...

Soccer studs......

Image
This is Jon. Since the elementary school and playground is a block away, we're finding ourselves over there more often now that the wintertime is past us (of course, it did snow until about noon on Friday, only to be totally gone by 5 p.m.). The girls love the big toys, swings and slides and we came across a few soccer balls left from recess I'm sure that the girls latched on to pretty quickly. I'm actually impressed by this move because Adelyn is correctly protecting the ball, while changing directions all while keeping the possession away from Brittany. A split second later, she was on the ground, but that wasn't what was recorded, so it didn't happen, right? Seven years of soccer and I've still got it.........sorry Addy. So cute. We think Adelyn will be a goalie since she had this habit of picking up the ball. See? Here she is again. Great kick, Delaney!

Eye care for D-Rae

Image
So, some of you may know that we've been working with Delaney's regular eye doctor in Ellensburg, along with a pediatric eye specialist in Bellevue to help strengthen her eyes. More specifically (and I don't know the exact terms, but Delaney's wonderful mommy can explain) her left eye is stronger than her right eye. We were patching her eye, to force her eyes to work collaboratively, but the specialist suggested using a contact lens to blur the vision in her left eye to minimize that eye's compensation for the weaker right eye. Got it? At first thought, contact lenses for a five-year old girl made me want to openly weap and Delaney played that card, but she's been a trooper lately and we're very proud of her. Mommy taking Delaney's contact out, with Adelyn watching closely from a distance. Adelyn was very enamored with the whole process and I believe that was a distraction to Delaney, which obviously made it difficult for us to put the contact in or tak...

Old Wilson joins the family..........

Image
A man needs a truck and preferably a truck with personality. I lucked out yesterday. A friend of mine who I got to know real well when he was the K-Town girls basketball coach decided to pass along a truck he's had for nearly 30 years - a 1965 Chevrolet. The thing's a beast. It's a two-tone (gold and rust), has a Grateful Dead decal on the driver's side window, has a four speed and is a little tempermental on the choke. Basically, it's perfect. I named him "Old Wilson" because the truck is 45 years old, and because my friend's name is Scott Wilson, so it just fit. When coach parked the truck in front of my house, he apologized to Brittany for probably making our neighbors hate us. It runs a bit loud. I drove coach home and he asked if I had a cell phone to call Brittany in case the thing died on my way home. We laughed, but there was an element of seriousness to his voice. A man and his truck. Delaney was skeptical, at best, when she saw Old Wilson...
