Where else would we be? Rodeo arenas!

This is Jon. More action from the arena for our crew.
On Saturday, we watched the Luke Mezich Memorial Team Roping. We sat in some of the best seats in the house, immediately behind the roping chutes. The roping is a big fundraiser for the Sparrow Club, which is huge in helping kids overcome illness and helping families cope.
Adelyn perched herself right here for a long time, studying the steers as they waited their turn in the chute. She looked a lot like a roper would, watching his steer and asking around about his tendencies.
Sunday morning of Father's Day. Delaney made me a card that looks like a shirt and tie. Adelyn "thumbs up" Guddat approves. We had an early start to the day since we got in the car to head to the Sisters Rodeo right outside of Bend, Oregon. Great road trip.
Unlike last year, when there wasn't a cloud in the sky, yesterday was pretty cloudy and overcast, but you can see two of the sister mountains here.
"The Biggest Little Show in the World" is a good one. This sign and huge Stars and Stripes greet us at the entrance.
This is 2012 world champion Mary Walker and her (perhaps) more famous horse Latte. Latte is valued at roughly $750,000 and is a pleasure to watch. I remember an interview I had with Mary during Labor Day of 2012. She had just won Ellensburg and was getting a bit emotional during our interview. This was her first year back after the previous two years involved losing her 18 year old son in an auto accident and also having a horse roll over on her, breaking her pelvis which rendered her immobile for months. Then she goes on to win some big rodeos, including Ellensburg and then dominates the National Finals Rodeo that December. She's married to world champion steer wrestler Byron Walker, so there is some solid rodeo history in that household.
I thought this picture was quite good in capturing Adelyn's serenity...
...and Delaney's cuteness.
Yep, you read that right. 45th parallel baby. When we were done with the photos, the girls stood on the side of the highway in the middle of nowhere central Oregon pumping their fists for the truckers to respond, which they did with loud honks. It even got smiles out of me.
